jACOB: A joy to work with |

jACOB is an Eclipse and standard Java based Rapid Application Development tool (RAD) that enables fast and easy development of Rich Internet Applications (RIA). It utilizes Tomcat, IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic or similar products as a middle layer and a standard browser (Internet explorer version 5.x or higher, Firefox) as a presentation layer.
jACOB includes sophisticated monitoring tools, optimizing the performance of your design and has its own report writer plus a plug in for standard report writers like Jasper reports.
The primary goal of jACOB is to handle web applications with CRUD (create, retrieve, update, delete) with little or no Java programming. There is no need to tell the application how to retrieve or display the data. Instead, the developer creates the Web-UI with a point and click eclipse UI-Designer.
jACOB's major benefit is that the layout of the user interface is separate from the Java classes of the application. The jACOB three-tier architecture clearly separates data access, business logic and user interface. It combines the best of the Eclipse and Java development environment with ready to go wizards and a number of powerful editors.
jACOB takes you step-by-step through the design process. Program development was never so simple.
jACOB creates applications that are fully integrated with your existing applications, utilizing multiple data bases and entry points. Any jACOB designed application is fully scalable and will include standard jACOB features such as hot deployment, full message queue management, scheduling of recurring asynchronous jobs in background and full debugging functionality of jACOB running in remote environment.
Its well structured architecture makes jACOB's administration and operation easy. Using jACOB you will profit from the more advanced management features of the jACOB container. Alternatively a jACOB based application can also be deployed as a stand alone application (.war) in a Web container like Jakarta-Tomcat.
